Maui Luaus
Maui may not be the biggest island in Hawaii, but it does boast some of the most spectacular luaus for you to enjoy.
Basic Maui Luau Information
From a tourist perspective, Maui is best understood in two parts as the predominant tourist areas. You have West Maui, which comprises Lahaina, Kaanapali and Kapaula, and then there is South Maui consisting of Kihei and Wailea. The drive from South Maui to West Maui is about an hour, though sometimes traffic can be challenging as there is essentially only one road connecting the two. So if you are ever in a situation where you’re staying in South Maui but attending a luau in West Maui, you want to make sure you give yourself plenty of time to drive over as you cannot predict any accidents or brush fires that can cause lane closures on the road.
As far as cost is concerned, we have seen dramatic increases on the price tag of Maui Luaus. Some of this may be warranted based on current national economic trends, but some of it may not be as well. In general you will find that the more expensive a luau is, the better quality of food, show and proximity to ocean should be greater as well – though this is not always the case. Conversely you will find that the less expensive luaus will have locations and vistas that are not as pristine.
Most of the luaus in Maui will have both standard seating and preferred seating options. Though the table arrangements vary from luau to luau, in general you can expect the preferred seating tables located closer to the stage and first to receive food, while the standard seating will be the remaining tables. Again, in general, most actual seating charts for each evening is based on when you make your reservation… meaning, the sooner you make your booking, the better seating you will have (in either preferred or standard)… and the longer you wait to make your booking, the further to the back of the section you will be. So we always encourage our guests to give us a call early in their planning to confirm availability and make a reservation, knowing that you can cancel and still receive a full refund as long as we have a day or two notice (depending on luau) prior to your scheduled Luau.
